The Duke Energy Seabed Restoration job was an extremely technical project in which stone was required to be placed on a newly laid pipeline on the seafloor. Exact placement of the stone was essential, which the previous contractor was not able to provide. The 600 c.y. dump scows were equipped with WINOPS GPS software and two forms of propulsion on the bow and stern of the vessels. These modifications allowed for complete maneuverability and the ability to place the stone exactly where requested. The project was a huge success benefiting the both the owner and contractor. The above image shows the pipeline accurately covered by stone.
