Port Norfolk Yacht club was a private dredging project to deepen the club’s slip and dock area for recreational boats. The equipment on site included the SAMSON III, Pushboat Mantis, Tug NATICK and two 600 c.y. dump scows. Tight spacing between pilings, shallow to no water, and ice made work difficult, slowing dredge operations.
The 14,000 cubic yards dredged were pushed out of Boston Harbor where it was then towed by the NATICK the Mass Bay Disposal Site. The SAMSON III made short work of the project in under one month, with no hiccups.
