Burnham Associates, Inc. (BAI) completed their first season of dredging Plymouth Harbor ahead of schedule on February 1, 2019. The initial project schedule projected that during the 2018-2019 season, the entrance channel, extension, and turning basin would be completed with the 2019-2020 season dedicated to dredging the anchorage basin in preparation for the Plymouth 2020 celebrations. Thanks to collaborative efforts from AGM Marine Contractors and Cashman Dredging and marine Contracting, the entirety of the channel, extension, and turning basin were completed before the end of 2018, allowing BAI to remove an additional 46,000 CY from the anchorage that was proposed for the 2019 fall season. This additional work will allow the Town of Plymouth to begin implementation of their Harbor Plan by restructuring the cleared area of the mooring field this winter. Having the new mooring field partially completed this season will allow for commercial fishing vessels in Plymouth to continue working uninterrupted this coming winter while the remainder of the mooring field is cleared to a finished depth of -8″ MLLW. BAI has been working with the Town of Plymouth and local commercial fishermen to assure that work may resume upon the reopening of the dredging season on October 1, 2019.
