Annisquam River Wreck Removal

Annisquam River Wreck Removal

Client: US Army Corps of Engineers New England

Project: Annisquam River Sunken Wreck Removal

Value: $66,000

Date: Aug 2003

Contact: Maurice Beaudoin

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers required the removal of the 65ft scalloper “Kris Schell” from the Annisquam River in Gloucester MA. Testing of the vessel found it to be contaminated with PCBs. This changed the nature of the project from a simple wreck removal, to that of a TASCA-HAZMAT situation. It was decided to refloat the vessel in spite of its severely deteriorated condition, and haul it ashore prior to its demolition.
