National Grid Power Line Repair
Client: National Grid New England
Project: Saugus Power Line Repair
Value: $142,994
Date: May 2011-June 2011
Contract: National Grid Massachusetts
National Grid solicited Burnham Associates to manage a power line repair job on high voltage power lines just inside of the General Edwards Bridge in Saugus, MA. The power lines had been damaged by a crane boom and were not functioning properly. The job required a barge large enough to handle a crane with man-basket for work over 100’ high. A Grove truck crane, rented from Locke Equipment, was transferred onto the spud barge TRINITY. There was little room for error while maneuvering the barge into position, with high risk factors such as heights, high voltage wires and shallow water. Burnham Associates worked with Locke Crane, Foss Towing, and National Grid repair men to fix the damaged lines and return full power to the wires.
