One of our larger dredge projects was North Cove in Old Saybrook, CT. It required the removal of 200,000 c.y. of material. Roughly half of the material was transferred to the Long Island Disposal Site and half to the Cornfield Shoals Disposal Site. The dredge SAMSON III, pushboat MANTIS and dump scows SE 103 and SE 104 were working to complete this mammoth project. Burnham Associates swiftly and effectively dredged and disposed of the 200,000 cubic yards of soft silt with no hang ups. The project was made challenging by strong currents in the Connecticut River, and heavy ice in the cove and river.
