Royal River consisted of removing over 100,000 cubic yards of material from the 7 foot federal channel, and 5 foot anchorage basin. The project was safely completed with efficiency despite working in a narrow, shallow channel, varying materials within the dredge prism, harsh winter conditions, and eventual complete freeze up of the river. In order to complete the project, an icebreaker was hired to keep the river clear for our vessels after the start of the new year. The dredged material was transported via dump scow to the Portland Disposal Area, 16 miles southeast of the Royal River.
